BIOGRAPHY
Oscar-winning filmmaker Ronald William Howard was born on March 1, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma, USA. He made his film debut as an actor in Sunset Red (1959) and continued with films such as Live of Illusion (1962), American Graffiti (1973) and The Last Gunslinger (1976).
On television he participated in The Andy Griffith Show (1960) and later in Happy Days (1974) , From the Earth to the Moon (1998), Arrested Development (2003) and Parenthood (2010). He debuted as a director in the comedy Crazy Getaway to Las Vegas (1977).
Howard and his producing partner, Brian Grazer, first worked together on the comedies Night Shift and Splash . Together they founded Imagine Entertainment in 1986 to create independently produced feature films.
His film experience includes projects such as Backdraft (1991), A Far Far Horizon (1992), Rescue (1996), Apollo 13 , a film for which he received his first Best Director of the Year award from the Directors Guild Awards and which also earned him It gave the Oscar for Best Film Editing and Best Sound, among other recognitions. Many of his films have been nominated for an Oscar, such as Llamaradas (1991), Parenthood and Cocoon (1985), for which he won 2 Oscars.
He has participated in projects such as Cinderella Man: The Man Who Didn’t Let Him Fall (2005), The Challenge – Frost vs. Nixon (2008), Rush (2013), Made in America (2013), In the Heart of the Sea (2015), Angels & Demons (2009), The Da Vinci Code (2006), The Grinch (2000), Willow (1988) and Night Shift (1982).
He is one of the few personalities who has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Among his latest projects as an actor are the television series Arrested Development (2003) and This Is Us (2016-2018).
