BIOGRAPHY
Joseph Marcell studied speech and dance at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. Following his graduation, he became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and appeared in productions of Othello and A Midsummer Night’s Dream . He also worked in feature films and on television in Britain and the United States from the 1970s. One of his first important appearances on television was in the series Empire Road (1978). But Marcell gained greater popularity years later when he played the role of Geoffrey Butler, the butler on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996). In 2022 we will see him working under the direction of Alejandro Hidalgo in The Exorcism of God , playing the role of priest Michael Lewis in this story that follows an American priest who works in Mexico and deals with the consequences of having been possessed by a demon.
