Betty Broderick: biography, family and education

Betty was born in Eastchester, New York, on November 7, 1947, as Elisabeth Anne Bisceglia. Broderick has been raised since the day she was born to behave like a housewife due to her very conservative family. In 1965, she graduated from Eastchester High School.

Betty later attended and graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent, a small Catholic college for women. Finally, through an accelerated program, she earned a degree. Broderick has American nationality and is of white ethnicity.

Betty Broderick: marriage and children

In 1965, at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Betty met her then-husband, Dan Broderick. Her ex-husband Dan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest son of a large Catholic family similar to Bisceglia, and both of his parents were descendants of Irish immigrants.

At Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, the couple married on April 12, 1969. Betty returned pregnant with their first daughter, Kim (born 1970), from their honeymoon. Broderick, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, gave birth to four more children: daughter Lee (b. 1971), two sons named Daniel (b. 1976), and a boy named Rhett (b. 1979), who died two days after birth.

The Fall of Betty Broderick’s Marriage

There is no denying that Betty was a very supportive and loving wife during her husband’s difficulties. Even when her husband was busy with law school and studying, Betty worked and fed her children without hesitation.

After establishing his company and stable finances, Dan hired a paralegal named Linda Kolkena. The couple was going quite strong when one day, Betty found out, her husband is not faithful to her marriage and her affair with her assistant.

Murder

After the divorce with her husband, Betty faced numerous psychological disorders. Betty Broderick went to Dan’s home at 1041 Cypress Avenue in the Marston Hills neighborhood near Balboa Park in San Diego eight months after buying a Smith & Wesson revolver and seven months after Dan and Linda were married. Broderick fired five bullets, two of which hit Linda and one at Dan, while the other two missed.

Betty’s defense attorney, Jack Early, filed the lawsuit. Along with her income, she also racked up about $16,000 a month in alimony. Additionally, she lived in a $650,000 beachfront property in La Jolla that Dan had purchased from her.

His first trial ended in a hung jury when two of the jurors entered the plea for manslaughter, citing willful misconduct. The second test was effectively a first retest. At the California Institution for Women in Chino, California, she is serving her sentence.
