BIOGRAPHY
Amy Lou Adams was born on August 20, 1974 in the town of Vicenza in the province of Veneto, Italy. Her parents, of American origin, were in the European country due to the work of her father, a military man. The family returned to the United States when Amy was still small and her childhood was spent in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Her first contact with art was through the high school choir and her participation in a ballet company, as she dreamed of becoming a professional dancer. She combined several jobs with her activity as a dancer: she was a waitress and also worked in department stores. She participated in stagings of musical works in Boulder, Colorado such as Brigaddon and A Chorus Line , and subsequently moved to Minneapolis to join another dance company.

After an injury and forced to temporarily leave dance, Amy participated in the audition for the film Drop Down Gorgeous (1999) and was chosen to play a role. Motivated by the experience of filming, she decided to move to Los Angeles to try her luck as an actress. She had small roles in various television series including: That ’70s Show , Charmed , Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Smallville. In 2002 she shared credits with Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can , although her work went unnoticed and she returned to television series.

It was her role as Ashley in the independent film Junebug (2005) that helped her get noticed: Amy earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2007 she was chosen to play the role of a princess in Disney’s Enchanted and became a true celebrity.

Amy has been nominated for an Oscar five times: Junebug (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012) and American Hustle (2013).
